Regarding the last two posts, I have to say that Steve Byrd and Gary Grainger are both outstanding, brilliant guitar players, of this there is no doubt. I am extremely fortunate to be able to call up Gary Grainger to cover for Byrdy from time to time.

Hi Byrdy,Pleased to hear the mods(the best live band ever!!!) aren't coming to an end. What would we do without you!Keep the good songs coming.
luv julie and helen xx(2 mad sisters that cornered you at the boom boom!)

Byrdy    12 September 2008 17:34 | Southampton
Whew!, there's a tickertape parade here in Soton, the populace are celebrating the update of Johnny's blog, and all rumours that the band were finished have been quashed!!!!!!!!
Its true we do loads of new songs now(if 40 years old is new)and they are stonkin'.
At rehearsals we always had a nice cup of cocao and Johnny's slippers warming by the fire and played him the chorus to Grandad as he arrived to help his lyric retension as best we could.
Good job its all from years ago,ask him what he was doing last week and its another matter.
Still the Stannah chairlift sponsorship looks good and the Saga tour is something to look forward to.
Don't worry fans, we'll soon be moving onto those cosy seated venues, where you can get a decent cup of tea!
Cheers,Byrdy,
(no nurse I've already been,honest)

phenomenal gig Friday last at the Boom Boom Sutton .Its been building up to this for a few weeks.Gigs at the beaverwood, herne hill were brilliant, but this was the Big One,Sympathy for the devil had Johnny at his vocal best, but the band really shows us what sheer musicianship is all about,in just one song which ironically took one practise to do "Hush" Deep purple,Kula Shaker,The Mods I know which one I and many others prefer it blew the lid of the place, I can say in all honesty say its the best song i have seen them do in all the years i have known them and its been a few,Mickeys keyboards were on fire as were all the band, the excitement that came from the mguys that night was so infectious it had the whole audience bouncing of the walls,an unprecedented night.Every song was a winner,a great recipe for a really heart thumping night .Thanks guys Again for bringing us Mind blowing stuff, and letting me plink on Byrdys guitar ,Yours Lynnexx

Dear Richard and Joe,
Thank you both very much for your kind words. We always enjoy what we do and that is why it is so infectious. We are never complacent even though we are all very competent in our respective fields, and without getting too big headed, we are all World Class performers. We were very happy as this was a relatively new crowd for us on our second gig there, and it is building well thanks to Pete Feenstra and next time it will be bigger still hopefully. Look forward to seeing you all this Friday at the Boom Boom Club Gander Green Lane Sutton and again a few more surprises. Please tell others about the Band guys as that in itself helps immensely to spread the word.
Kindest Regards Johnny Warman

Dear Sooz,
Thank you for your kind words and didn't we have fun !!! Fantastic crowd very knowledgable and definately up for the best time ever. Sympathy for the Devil will always stick in my memory and boy was I sweating that night. We love playing for you guys and hope that we will indeed be playing on the major stages for Harley in Europe next year !!! However Bisley is a blast and we are extremely well looked after by both Sean and Andy and we look forward to the next Harley Bash at Sandford which is not too far away. Once again Sooz thank you and keep spreading the word about the band as you can be so instrumental in getting the bands name around and enthusing others. Please get back to Andy England and let him know about your feelings and about how great the band is as he booked us and the feedback is appreciated just as much by Andy for doing a great job.
Kindest Regards Johnny Warman

The Mighty Mods have been a s bit scarce of late but they came back with a venegance on Saturday last at The Brook Southampton. They really gave it to us with some fantastic solos ,thrown in and inprovs.Johnny gave a mind blowing performance of "Sympathy for the Devil" Mick Jagger watch your day job.A much eagerly awaited gig and if you catch this message board from time to time it doesent 'take a genius to work it out how much I love and and support these guys 100 per cent.If you have seen them already you will know what I mean ,If you havent? then go see them as they are so true to the songs and give such high energy performances untouched by any other tribute bands around. The crowd at the Brook were rocking from the start and went ballistic at "Lola" and many others. We did not want them to go, and managed to get them back out get for a window rattling performance of "Gimme some Lovin" .Pure Magic.A great night yet again guys, and well worth the long wait See Ya soon,Love Lynne x

Dear Carrie,
What a lovely message and we will indeed see if we can try and fit one of yout tunes in !!! Please spread the word to all your mates as we really want to sell this gig out and we are without question the best band in the world at doing what we do and the musicianship is breathtaking. I hope you find something "Mod" in your wardrobe but don't worry too much the music will take you right back to your teens and we will have lots of fun doing it. Really looking forward to the gig !!! Please come up and say hello to the band, as we come out into the crowd, after we have recovered !!! just to thank every one.
My Kindesty Regards Johnny Warman

Hey Johnny!
Was at Bridgwater Arts Centre last night to see 'Bedouin Jerry Can Band', and saw your flyer for next week. . . I'M GONNA BE THERE! . . . Just got down my pile of 45s and found my original copies of 'Half as Nice' and 'Liquidator', which I used to listen to at the local (South London) youth club back in 1969 when I was 14! If either of these tracks are in your repertoire and you feel like playing them, you will hear the biggest shriek from me! I am SO looking forward to your visit, it's such a tiny venue, your music will surely lift the roof off! . . . The biggest co-incidence is that I used to go to Beaverwood School for Girls, Beaverwood Road, Chislehurst! Hey, what a crazy world, and I haven't got a single mod thing to wear. . . Mmm, I feel a shopping trip coming on! Roll on next Friday . . . best wishes, Carrie

Hi Johnny!
I´wonder what happened to the great videos that was recorded during the Swedish tv show "Casablanca", in 1982 I´think?

By the way, I´think "From The Jungle..." is the best song ever. And I´ wish you´d had continued making songs like that.
Anyway, thanks for everything you´ve given me through your music.
/Björn Granberg
